despite ,my overly negative answers to the survey, i feel that this is a good time to buy the stock, despite the performance, at least they have come forward and disclosed aggressively, they have made a bad mistake in the investment banking business, and have realised the have no place in the US market, no European can compete there commercially, they have made provisions and taken their medicine
i think the survey should examine shareholders attitude to what is happening now, its obvious that what has occurred is very poor, im sure the survey results will reflect that, but what about the new direction, some may feel they should not give up on IB, but improve the efficiency of their risk management, others that it is the board who are at fault, you do not give the opportunity to voice this
thanks

No way is the investment bank to blame, name any house who have weathered this, UBS had the right strategy, wealth, private, trading,
a perfect blend
This is a setback across the board, now is not the time to give up, but baton down the hatches and wait it out
Get rid of the traders and see how well the wealth and private guys do 5 years down the road when the client has more savvy and demands more
the only other strategy is to tie up with another bank like lehman

To make the investment bank self fund just doesn't make sense. Why try and kill one of the jewels? Sure a certain number of desks screwed up and risk management was atrocious but the place made a lot of money in most of the other investment banking areas. They'd be better off selling it rather than trying to kill it.
