UBS shareholders have voted against a resolution to for a special audit of the accounts for last year.
The Ethos investment foundation, one of UBS' chief critics, claimed it was necessary because UBS had failed in its responsibility to investors. Thecopany caimed that it was already being audited by the banking commission and therefore another audit was not necessary. The proposal was rejected at the meeting with 363,771,934 votes against and 314,065,169 votes in favour (53.7 to 46.3%). The motion needed a simple majority to pass.
