There has been considerable discussion regarding legislation pending in the United States concerning the right for shareholders in US listed companies to have a non-binding vote on executive compensation at Annual General Meetings. Such shareholder rights exist in many countries including the United Kingdom and Australia. Senator McCain has previously expressed his support to the introduction of such legislation, generally referred to as "Say on Pay". However, more recently, the Republican Party has refused to clarify its stance on this issue. On 21 September, 2008, InvestorVoice wrote to the Republican Party asking it to clarify its policy regarding such legislation. We shall let you know the party's response. We have not received a response after 7 days.
